Stringybark Shack is an off-grid shack on our family’s rural property in the Yarra Ranges Shire.

We revamped the shack using leftover items from our home renovation (paint, cabinetry, lampshades, curtains & blinds) and things we picked up secondhand (appliances, beds). I added a few styling pieces sourced from op shops and chain stores (and by shopping our own home), layering in Australian tones through eucalyptus greens, red ochre from the soil and natural timbers and fibres such as the seagrass lampshades.

The most special pieces are the retro dinnerware set we were given by our Nanna when she moved out of her home, as well as a pair of her vintage recliner chairs which will make their way to the shack once they’ve been replaced at home.

We feel very lucky to have this special place we can get away to.
